Description
In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to begin laying the foundation for creating mobile-optimized sites that also work on the desktop. The number of people who use a mobile web browser in a device such as Smartphone or tablet is still statistically small, but is growing rapidly. This creates a challenge for designers and developers who need websites that are readable (and usable) on a large desktop screen as well as the smaller mobile screen. One of the techniques that is used to address this problem falls under the category of "adaptive" or "responsive design. These techniques take advantage of CSS3 technology in order to deliver useful and pleasing experiences for the user.
In this Designing for Mobile workshop, you will learn:
• An overview of the mobile landscape
• An introduction to CSS3 Media Queries
• Setting up your style sheets for mobile
• How to design page elements that are optimized for touchscreen devices
Designing for Mobile Training Class Prerequisites
This is a hands-on workshop using a web editor and although there is demonstration/presentation component, prior knowledge of building HTML sites with CSS is highly recommended.
